By Darryl G. Smart

The Simcoe Xtreme Volleyball Club Lightning struck bronze over the weekend at a 15U McGregor Cup volleyball tournament.
After ranking second in its pool, that also had the Norfolk Volleyball Club Chaos Fury, the Xtreme battled hard in the playoffs and came away with bronze medals thanks to a 2-1 (19-25, 25-21, 25-11) win over the Niagara Fury.
In the playoff round, they beat the Waterloo Tigers 2-1 (25-21, 16-25, 16-14) in the quarter-final, before losing 2-0 to the Niagara Rapids Rage 2-0 (20-25, 21-25), setting up the bronze medal game against the Fury.
In round robin action, they began with a 2-0 (26-24, 25-16) win over Norfolk Chaos Fury, before dropping a tough 2-1 (25-10, 12-25, 13-25) decision to the Grimsby Viper Strike.
The Norfolk Chaos was represented by a pair of teams in the Fury and Revolution.

The Revolution ended up in fifth spot overall in the tournament, thanks to a 2-0 (25-15, 28-26) win over their Fury clubmates in the quarter-final, before losing 2-0 (25-18, 25-20) to the Niagara Rapids Surge.
