Simcoe’s Mac Wood had a goal and two assists, as he and the The Dundas Real McCoys handed the Brantford Blast a 7-3 loss Friday night at the Brantford Civic Centre in Allan Cup Hockey action.
It was the second Friday in a row the Real McCoys had defeated the Blast.
Phile Brewer, Darren Haydar and Mark Bennett led the Real McCoys attack in the first period, before Nikola Bibic stopped the bleeding for the Blast early in the second.
Dan LaPointe and Nathan Pageau then exchanged second-period goals.
In the third period, Wood, who just finished four years with the Buffalo State Bengals, netted his goal just over a minute into the frame. Almost 30 seconds later, Jake Goldberg scored, with LaPointe adding his second of the night for the Real McCoys.
Chris Lawerence scored the lone Blast goal of the period.
The loss drops the Blast’s record to 6-3-1, in a very tight ACH standings. They are currently three points behind the second-place Hamilton Steelhawks Hockey Club – ACH, and seven back of the first-place Real McCoys.
This is going to be a busy weekend for the Blast. Friday they are on the road against the Steelhawks at 7:30pm, before playing the Whitby Dunlops Saturday at 6:30pm on the road. The Blast wrap things up at the Civic Centre Sunday at 7:30pm against the Steelhawks.
