The Waterford District Minor Hockey Association Wildcats were stretched to the limit, and ended up earning a hard-fought silver medal at the Waterford Nelson Emerson midget local league tournament this past weekend.
After needing overtime to defeat the New Hamburg Huskies 2-1 in Sunday’s semifinal, the Wildcats dropped a 2-1 decision, also in overtime, to the Arran-Elderslie IceDogs.
To get to the playoff round, the Wildcats relied on some great goaltending from Colby Samson, opening the tourney up with a 2-0 win over the Huskies, before blanking the Pelham Panthers 1-0
In their final round robin game, which was earlier Sunday morning, the Wildcats dropped a 4-0 decision to the IceDogs.
