Hannah Ward is showing that she and the Norfolk Hammerheads Aquatic Club are world class.
The 15-year-old, from Waterford qualified for the upcoming Canadian Olympic Trials, thanks to her efforts at the Mallards Winter Invitational in Markham.
She recorded a time of 27.17 seconds in the 50 metre to qualify for the Olympic Trials to be held in Toronto March 30 to April 5.
The 2020 Olympic Games are in Tokyo, Japan from July 24 to August 9.
Ward will not be alone at the event.
Fellow Hammerhead, Zach Zona, also from Waterford, has already punched his ticket to the Olympic trials for the para-swim team.
The Hammerheads are, under the guidance of Tent McNicol, are preparing for this weekend’s Western Region Short Course Championships. The local swim team has 24 swimmers competing at the event.
