16U Revolution advance in PWSA bracket
It was a huge night for the D1 Revolution girls softball organization.
The D1 Revolution 16U scored late to beat the LaSalle Athletics 3-2 on Thursday for their first Provincial Women’s Softball Association bracket win.
Down 2-1 in the top of the seventh inning Megan Peacock singled on a 3-2 pitch, scoring two runs to take the lead for the team.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Chloe Hocquard threw seven innings for the Revolution, allowing six hits and striking out 11, while Gurdit Sra surrendered three runs on four hits and struck out four for the Athletics.
Karlee Curran led the offence for the Revolution with two hits in four at bats, while Peacock reached base three times in four at bats with two walks and a two-run single. Zoe Fishback also had a hit in the game, while Torie Windle drew two walks.
Defensively the Revolution were solid. A beautiful relay from Zoe Fishback in right field, to Avyree Sherman at first base, and to Lexie Sawyer at the plate would result in throwing a runner out at home in the sixth inning.
Chloe Cole went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Athletics in hits, while Cubana, MacNeill, Pearson and Grondin would all collect hits as well.
Next up, the D1 Revolution host the Brantford Bobcats 05 in a double-header Friday night in Sweaburg at 7pm.
19U win big
The bats continued to stay hot as the U19 D1 Revolution hammered UTM 17-2 Wednesday night.
They are now set to play weekend games in Stratford.
