The five local athletes that represented Norfolk at the Special Olympics Canada National Winter Games returned home from Thunder Bay with some extra luggage in the form of medals.
After Port Dover’s Taylor Bennett earned a silver medal in ice dance, the Special Olympics Simcoe bowling team went to work, adding three more medals.
Kaitlyn Ferguson, Jason Gordy, Kendall Steinhoff and Korissa Hammond came away with the Team 5-pin bowling silver medal.
Individually, the local team also had a great event. Gordy and Ferguson added bronze medals to their haul.
Also adding to the local tally was Brendan Caslick, from Brantford, who won a gold medal.
