The local pipeline from Norfolk to the LA Kings now includes Simcoe’s Dylan Robinson.

Late last week, the 19-year-old defenceman was named to the Los Angeles Kings roster for the Rookie Faceoff in Arizona. The stalwart on the blue line for the Windsor Spitfires joins the 28-player roster, that includes 16 forwards, nine defensemen and three goaltenders will play from September 17 to 20, at Gila River Arena and Scottsdale Ice Den.

Robinson impressed the Kings’ brass, which includes Norfolk Proos vice president and general Rob Blake and director of player personnel Nelson Emerson, during the Kings’ development camp that took place August 23 to 27. That camp also featured a couple of familiar names, in the form of Jack Blake and Quinn Emerson. Blake will play for Bowling Green State University Falcons this season, and will be joined by Emerson next year. Emerson  will play for the British Columbia Hockey League’s Wenatchee Wild.

Robinson is heading into what would have been his third full season with the Spitfires. In the 2019-20 season, the former Holy Trinity High School student played 55 games and had two goals and 16 assists, while becoming one of the team’s leaders on the blue line.
