The action at Gopher Dunes returned in a huge way over the weekend.

When it comes to sports, the sand track in Courtland is the only game in the area. And on Sunday it played host Amateur Motocross Ontario’s (AMO) first Ontario Provincial Series (OPC) races of the season.

Hundreds of racers from all over Ontario and Quebec took part in the event.

When it came to the action, a handful of locals came away with victories.

Waterford’s Cody Meatherall won the 65CC GP boys 7-11 small track race, while Courtland’s Brandy McLarty took the checkered flag in the ladies B 12-plaus race.

And in the veteran’s 40B-plus beginner/juvenile division, Delhi’s Steve Cooper took home first place.

Racing continues at Gopher Dunes this weekend, with the Sandbox XC presented by OFF Road, taking place Saturday. Go to the Gopher Dunes Facebook page for more information.
