It wasn’t the type of opener the Hagersville Hawks Jr C Hockey were looking for.
But the good news is, Game 2 of its best-of-seven Provincial Junior Hockey League League Bloomfield Division semifinal with the Glanbrook Rangers is Wednesday night.
Noah Bollert and Cooper Hood scored during a four minute span before the midway point of the second period, to lead the Rangers to a 3-1 Game 1 victory in Hagersville on Tuesday.
Peter Cappucci netted a power-play goal midway through the frame to get the Hawks to within one, before Joel Wallace put things on ice in the third period.
Avery Hartwick was busy between the Hawks’ pipes, making 39 saves, while Matt Lukic had 30 stops for the win.
Game 2 is Wednesday at 7:30pm in Glanbrook, with Game 3 Saturday at 7:30pm back in Hagersville.
In the other PJHL Bloomfield Division semifinal, the Hespeler Jr C Shamrocks visit the Grimsby Peach Kings on Wednesday at 7:30pm.
