The Rockstar Triple Crown Motocross Tour returned with its first official stop at Gopher Dunes over the weekend
With the first four rounds of the tour cancelled because of Covid-19 in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan, things heated up Saturday and Sunday, with Dylan Wright and Jess Pettis coming away with the pro 450cc and 250cc hardware respectively.
Wright, from Ottawa, swept all three motos to come away with the Rockstar Triple Crown tour stop victory. He outlasted Phil Nicoletti, from Amaranth, and Matt Goerke, from Panama City, Fla.
Liam O’ Farrell, from Paris earned a top-10 finish, placing seventh overall.
In the 250cc pro class, Pettis swept all three motos to come away with the win. Marshal Weltin, from Huntersville, NC and Waterdown’s Marco Cannella rounded out the podium.
Waterford’s Hayden Halstead and Woodstock’s Tanner Ward knocked on the door of a podium. Both showed their familiarity with the Gopher Dunes track. Ward had fourth and a pair of third place finishes to end up in fourth overall, while Halstead finished in sixth place overall thanks to a sixth, seventh and eighth place finish.
FXR Pre-Mix
Nathan Bles dominated in the FXR Pre-Mix races. The local, from Clear Creek swept his two motos to come home with the win. Westen Wrozyna and Taylor Ciampichini rounded out the podium.
WMX
Eve Brodeur, from Laval, QC won both motos to win the women’s motocross division. She outlasted Megan Brodeur, from Coaticook, Qc, and Brook Greenlaw, from Burnt River.
Round 2 of the Rockstar Triple Crown Tour is in Walton on August 8, with Round 3, also at Walton on August 16. Round 4 is at Sand Del Lee in Ottawa on August 28, with the final round set for September 5 at Deschambault, QC.
