The Langton Leafs atom local league team closed out 2019 with a bang.
Over the weekend, the Leafs captured Georgina Regional International Silver Stick Tournament, winning five games in three days.
Playing in a tournament against teams they had never faced before, the Leafs started out with a 7-2 win over Georgina Silver Friday morning, before handing EG Gold a 6-0 defeat later on.
Saturday, the Leafs continued to roll, with a 4-2 win over Coldwater, which put them into the semifinals.
On championship Sunday, the Leafs needed overtime to get by the Thornton Tigers 6-5, to earn a spot in the final. In the championship game, the Leafs were all over their opposition and came away with a convincing 4-0 win over Barrie.
Because they captured the regional Silver Stick title, the Leafs now get to compete for the International Silver Stick title in Pelham, January 9 to 12.
The Leafs are coached by Bryan Hall, Ray Stewart, Brian Casier and Bill Arthur. The players are Joaquim Crowder, Jayson Cook, Simon Stewart, Blair Hall, Chelsie Spriet, Sadie Casier, Connor Townsend, Brodie Arthur, Michael Gladu, Owen Bari, Noah Toth, and Kyler Kirby.
