To say that it’s a huge long weekend for local baseball teams is certainly an understatement. And the Simcoe Giants 15U team can attest to that.

For the second Saturday in a row, the Giants get to host Ontario Baseball Association August Madness action. This time they take on the Milton Mets in a double-header at Memorial Park, beginning at 12pm, with the second game slated for 3pm.

The Giants, who are currently 23-3 in Inter County Baseball Association action, are 10-0 in August Madness play, and are competing for the provincial 15U A title. So far they’ve let a path of destruction against their opponents.

In round 1 they beat St. Catharines 11-2, 11-1 and 7-6. They also beat Oakville 10-2, 5-1, and 10-3.

They are currently in round 2 against Kanata, Milton and Newmarket. They defeated Newmarket 7-0 and 10-2, before sweeping Kanata 14-1 and 8-3 at Memorial Park last weekend.

This weekend area ball diamonds are hosting the Southern Counties Baseball Association championships.
