The Valley Heights Bears have a ton to be proud of.
After only dropping one game in two days of round robin action at the Ontario Federation of Schools Athletic Association girls A volleyball championships in Walkerton, the Bears run came to a halt in the quarter-finals thanks to Sudbury’s College Notre-Dame.
In that quarter-final, the Bears lost 3-0 (25-17, 25-7, 25-11) to send them home.
But that wasn’t before the local volleyball team made some memories of their own with a great effort against the province’s best. Early Tuesday, they beat Oshawa’s Monsignor J. Pereyma Catholic Secondary School
25-11, 25-8), before winning a marathon thriller 2-1 (21-25, 31-29, 15-12) against St. Dominic Catholic Secondary School, from Bracebridge.
After round robin play, the Bears were second in their pool, matching them up against College Notre-Dame in the quarter-final.
