Peyton Callens’ familiarity with Otter Creek Golf Club proved to be an advantage last week during the Ontario Amateur Golf Championship.
The Langton golfer that is a member at the host course in Otterville, shot a four-day total 8-over par 296 to finish in a tie with Brantford’s Eric Shea for eighth place.
Caledon’s Cougar Collins rode a hot third round of 66 and finished with a even round of 72 on the final day to capture the Ontario Amateur Golf Championship. His four-day 2-under-par 286 bettered second and third round leader Robbie, who stumbled just slightly down the back stretch and lost the lead after a double bogey on 13.
Latter impressively fought back to remain tied with Collins until the seventeenth where he would drop a shot once again. Latter finished at 5-over (77) on the day, and a bogey on the 18th would help secure Collins the victory. Tied for second with Latter was Thomas Giroux (North Club of Halton), who finished the day and the week with a solid even par.
Callens, who is a member of the University of Nevada Wolf Pack had rounds of 75, 69, 78, and 74.
Shea, who is to golf for the University of Carolina at Charlotte this coming season, shot rounds of 76, 72, 77, and 71.
